The location of the new Starbucks and EV charging hub in Netherton

Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council has granted planning permission for a new Starbucks with EV charging spaces in the Netherton area of the town.

The application was submitted by Zesta Planning on behalf of Folkes Holdings Jersey Limited.

The site, at 245 Halesowen Road, is bordered by the A459 (Halesowen Road) to the north east, Chapel Street to the north west and the Washington Centre to the south. It has been owned by Folkes Holdings for a number of years. It previously housed an office building, which was demolished in 2018, and has remained vacant since.

The 0.64-acre piece of land will have a one-storey, drive-thru Starbucks and a total of 17 car parking spaces, two of which will be accessible. There will also be six EV charging bays, all of which will be accessible spaces.

During the application process, a Council report said: “Its location within a busy commercial area presents an opportunity to revitalise underused land without compromising the operational integrity of neighbouring employment uses.”
