Ford Service Station will have a new jet wash and new EV chargepoints

Ford Service Station near Shrewsbury has been granted permission to add EV chargepoints and a jet wash.

The site lies to the west of Shrewsbury, along the A458 on the approach into Ford village.

In a pre-application enquiry submitted to the Council, the case officer said a formal application would likely be supported because of the merits of the proposal. In the council’s letter of reply it said: “Shropshire Council is supportive of proposals that aim to help with climate change by reducing carbon emissions. The proposed site will be provided adjacent to a busy main road where existing and future demand will  be high.”

The local authority said the additions would have no significant impact visually and would not adversely affect the character and appearance of the area.

The site will have two Alpitronic Hyperchargers (hyc200) that serve four parking spaces. They aim to provide rapid charging (charging two vehicles simultaneously at 100 kW each) and operate without noise levels that are a detriment to the environment.Meanwhile, the jet wash would “enhance the range of facilities at the site”.

Both the EV chargers and the jet wash will be located in the rear corner of the site so no changes are needed to the entry and exit.
