Spar Stornoway in the Outer Hebrides has recently been the subject of an extensive refurbishment and, to celebrate, owner Allan MacDonald and his family held a launch party on December 9.
The 1,400sq ft forecourt store on Bayhead Street has been remodelled using the latest Spar branding with new window vinyls and in-store signage. New shelving, chillers, upright freezers, Fwip and Calippo Slush machines have also been added.
The MacDonalds have also built a new kitchen for their food-to-go operation, which is a particularly important part of the store’s business. In addition, two more Tchibo Coffee machines have been added to the two existing Tchibo units.
On the launch day, customers were invited to enter draws to win a smart HD TV and two £50 Spar vouchers. One hundred Spar goody bags were given away and there were some great promotional offers available on leading food and drink brands.
Allan MacDonald said: “We are delighted with our new look store which has been a major investment for our company and marks a complete upgrade to our store and kitchen which opened in 2006. We hope that our valued customers new and old will appreciate the range of products on offer, the new shop environment and our friendly staff service. We would like to thank the Spar Scotland team for their help with the planning and advice throughout the upgrade.”
Brian Straiton, CJ Lang & Son independent sales director, added: “We are delighted Allan and his family have made this investment into his Spar store. Our focus remains on providing Spar Stornoway with the best service and product availability. It’s our only store on the Isle of Lewis and Harris and we are enormously proud to support them in their mission to offer local residents a broad range of products with great value and choice.”
