Spot Service Stations has switched all three of its sites to Murco

Spot Service Stations, owned by Javid Iqbal, is switching all three of its forecourts to Murco.

The three sites are Rock Bay Service Station in Buxton, Derbyshire, Hatton Service Station in Derby and Burslem Service Station in Stoke on Trent, all of which Iqbal purchased earlier this year.

He says his decision to switch the fuel supply to Murco was an easy one: “In a lot of cases fuel brands are not what they seem eg Esso is Greenergy, with Murco what you see is what you get. And Murco being part of MFG, the biggest dealer group in the country, is a plus for us.

“Murco are very involved in the development of all three sites; they are working very closely with us. Everything they have said to us, they have delivered on so we are very happy – they are an excellent company to work with.”

Iqbal has signed a five-year contract with Murco and each of his sites has now switched over their fuel supply, complete with new imagery. He says customers like the new look.

On fuel pricing, Iqbal says Murco’s guidelines say ‘try not to undercut your competitors’: “We therefore stay with the market so in each of our locations we follow other competitors with regards to our pricing.”

He is developing each site according to what it needs and Murco is advising him on this. “They have so many tools to help us so we have lots of options,” he says. Sites are expected to get revamped shops and new pumps.
