With events in Iran still playing havoc with oil prices, Tesco is currently offering shoppers 5% off the cost of filling their fuel tank when they spend £60 or more in store.
Customers who spend £60 in a single in-store transaction before Sunday, August 16, will receive a coupon to save 5% off diesel and unleaded petrol. The coupon, which is currently worth as much as 8ppl off fuel, is redeemable at Tesco-branded forecourts across the UK until Sunday, August 23.
Meanwhile, last month Asda added the ability for shoppers to save on fuel through its Asda Rewards app for the first time.
Customers who spent £40 or more in a single in-store transaction up until July 31, received a 5ppl fuel coupon, redeemable on one fuel purchase at participating Asda filling stations until Friday, August 7.
Asda said customers filling a 60-litre family car could save up to £3 on a single fill, with the bonus available at 321 Asda stores and Asda Express sites that offer Asda-branded fuel.
Asda says it plans to expand fuel rewards to more stores and extend the bonus beyond August but there are no further details yet.
