Weoley petrol station prior to the fire

Top 50 Indie NTS Group has increased its estate to 16 petrol stations with the acquisition of a former Esso and Tesco Express site at Barnes Hill, six miles from the centre of Birmingham.

The site has been closed since a fire damaged the shop in July 2019 and NTS plans to invest £250,000 to completely refit the store with bakery, Costa Coffee and Freal, with a reopening scheduled for April 2021.

NTS director Thayaparan Nalliah said: “I am very pleased to have made this acquisition. It has been a year in the planning.

“I have not finalised a fuel brand yet, but I have been talking to several suppliers.”

NTS currently has sites supplied by BP, Esso, Jet and Texaco.

The new site, Weoley Petrol Station, has two Gilbarco pumps providing four filling positions and there are nine parking bays.

The site was sold by CBRE on behalf of ExxonMobil.

NTS was ranked 16 in the 2020 Forecourt Trader Top 50 Indies, when it had 14 sites.
