MFG will nearly double the size of the shop at the Morrisons Haverfordwest forecourt

MFG has been given the green light to extend its Haverfordwest Morrisons forecourt site.

Pembrokeshire County Council has granted permission for an extension to the existing petrol  station shop at Bridge Meadow Lane, Haverfordwest, together with the creation of an EV charging zone (six bays), sub-station, LV panel, bin store, four jet wash bays and associated works. The shop will nearly double in size from 96sq m to 188sq m.

Planning documents state: “The site comprises the existing areas of hardstanding that form part of the existing customer car park and petrol filling station. Some trees are located within the application site, in closest proximity to the EV charging zone and jet washing facilities.

“Three trees are proposed for removal. Replacement tree planting is proposed to mitigate the loss of trees. Beyond the site, existing trees and hedgerows are located on the periphery of the site to the east of the retail extension and to the south of the EV charging zone. These areas are not proposed to be affected by the proposals.”

A council highways officer report said the installation of the substation, EV charging point and jet wash will remove 30 parking bays within the car park to make way for the six EV bays, but that the net loss of 24 standard parking spaces was unlikely to have a detrimental impact on the onsite parking provision. However, it went on to say that the proposed development would have an impact on the surrounding area during the construction phase and therefore a construction management plan would be required.
