A female cashier was threatened with a screwdriver during a robbery at a service station in Stockport, Greater Manchester.
The masked man held a screwdriver to his victim at the Esso service station on Buxton Road, and demanded money. When she took too long to empty the till he jumped over the counter to do it himself.
But he was unable to work the till and had to ask the cashier, to begin emptying it again. And once he had the cash he then asked how to get out of the shop.
He escaped on a stolen motorbike with just £120.
Police have appealed for witnesses and describe the robber as white, slim, 6ft tall and in his mid 20s.
He wore a black jacket, dark blue jeans and an orange and red motorbike helmet. He carried a large, yellow screwdriver.
The bike had been stolen from Lisburne Avenue, Offerton, and was later found abandoned on Ashway Clough South, in Offerton.
Officers are studying CCTV and looking for forensic clues from the bike.
Inspector Steve Gilbertson, from Stockport police, said: “It wasn’t the most professional job. He tried to take the money himself, then asked for help. Then he even asked how to get out of the store.”
Witnesses to the incident on Saturday (May 10) at 4.10am should call 101.
