Top 50 Indie Ascona Group, which operates 70 sites and is one of the largest independent forecourt firms in the UK, has announced it is to return as a headline sponsor for the Child of Wales Awards for 2026.

The red-carpet event celebrates and recognises children and young people across a dozen categories, including those who face adversities such as illness and disability; who have shown exceptional bravery; who have made notable sporting and artistic achievements; and who have made great strides in entrepreneurship.

Since they began five years ago the annual awards have raised over £300,000 for charities supporting children and young people in Wales. This is the second year that Ascona has been the headline sponsor of the awards, which will be presented by BBC television personality Gethin Jones on 2 October at the Swansea Building Society Arena.

Ascona’s founder and chief executive, Darren Briggs, said his firm is “incredibly proud to be returning as headline sponsor of the Child of Wales Awards for the second year running”, and the sponsorship reflects Ascona’s “commitment to recognising and championing the achievements of young people across Wales and supporting the communities in which we operate”.

Blanche Sainsbury, who founded the awards, said that “without the continued support of Ascona Group, alongside the loyalty of other businesses, these awards simply wouldn’t be possible.”
