Proposals from EG On The Move to knock down and rebuild a Sussex forecourt are set to be decided imminently by the local authority.
The firm wants to knock down the “tired and dated” site, which it acquired from Applegreen in 2025 and sits on an acre plot.
EGOTM is proposing to construct a new, larger shop, together with fresh pumps, canopy and tanks, and EV charging.
The new shop will span 3,900sq ft, offer customer parking to its front and feature an attached 1,377sq ft Costa with a drive-thru lane, while outside four Tesla Superchargers will rub shoulders with two jet-wash bays.
Back in February the Environment Agency told EG On The Move it needed to carry out a detailed risk assessment relating to the potential contamination of an aquifer that runs beneath the site, while the company also had to produce a report showing traffic and pedestrian movements on, off and around the forecourt would be safe.
Residents have also objected to the plans over noise and traffic concerns, and the planned removal of existing trees.
EGOTM has subsequently refined its proposals, producing additional technical reports and adding dedicated staff parking bays to its plans, together with a 2.6m acoustic fence running alongside neighbouring houses, and markings on the hardstanding showing pedestrian routes.
Ipswich’s planning committee is due to rule on the revised proposals on Wednesday September 23.
