EG On The Move can now go ahead with its plans for a new-to-sector forecourt a stone’s throw from Glasgow Airport after the Scottish Government overturned a refusal notice for the project.
In May last year the Top 50 Indie applied to Renfrewshire Council to construct a new forecourt, complete with 5,500sq ft shop plus EV charging and a 3,500sq ft drive thru, on a 3.8-acre plot by the St James Interchange, a major roundabout just 500 metres from the airport’s runway.
But while the council’s planning officer supported the forecourt the council itself refused permission, partly over concerns about the impact it would have on the residents of a nearby cul de sac.
EGOTM subsequently lodged an appeal with the Scottish Government, and following this a planning reporter has subsequently given the project the green light.
Reporter Susannah Moore ruled “the proposed development accords overall with the relevant provisions of the development plan and that there are no material considerations which would still justify refusing to grant planning permission”, STV News reports.
