The forecourt will occupy what is currently a field “of limited agricultural value”, according to planning documents

Plans for a new filling station, complete with EV charging and a drive-through Starbucks, have been submitted for a site in Newtown, Powys, by EG On The Move.

Powys County Council is currently considering the proposals, which follow the earlier submission of outline planning consent for a new forecourt, approved in 2024.

The petrol station will feature four pump islands served by two 75,000-litre underground tanks, while a separate HGV filling area is also proposed. The forecourt shop will have a floorspace of 5,100sq ft, and will feature customer parking to its front.

A jet wash bay will also be offered, while the four proposed EV units are set to be Tesla Superchargers.

The site is a field adjacent to a caravan park and close to the A489 Newtown bypass, which opened in 2019. EG On The Move says the field has ”limited agricultural value” following construction of the bypass.
