Top 50 Indie Grove Retail has been granted planning permission to construct a new-to-sector main-road services complete with petrol station, cafe, EV charging and valeting facilities.
The London firm, which operates 33 forecourts, 30 of which are in Scotland, bought the Smithy Coffee House in Prestwick in a 2024 off-market deal, before applying for planning permission in March 2025 to redevelop the one-acre site.
Grove’s plans have now been given the green light by South Ayrshire Council, meaning the firm can commence with its project.
This comprises the construction of a new-to-sector six-pump-island forecourt served by two 60,000-litre tanks and a 2,800sq ft shop, together with six EV charging and three jet-wash bays, and extensive customer parking.
The popular cafe will be retained but receive a new, extended kitchen and storage area. One on-site cottage will be retained for staff-accommodation, with the rest of the plot being knocked down to make way for the forecourt and its amenities.
The forthcoming facility will sit on a roundabout close to Glasgow Prestwick Airport two miles from the west coast of Scotland, and serving the A77 trunk and A719 main roads.
