A hand car wash in Taunton, Somerset, has been issued a Prohibition Notice by the Health and Safety Executive over concerns that the business poses a risk of electrocution to employees.
The HSE issued the Notice to Taunton Hand Car Wash Ltd, which operates on Priory Bridge Road in the town, stating: “You have workers engaged in work activities near live conductors that have not been maintained to prevent danger as they have live conductors that are not covered by insulating material.”
The Notice continues: “They are working near live conductors, namely electrical sockets and distribution boards, that have not been maintained to prevent access to those live conductors.” The company was found to be in breach of The Health and Safety At Work Act 1974, and Electrical Safety at Work regulations.
The issuing of a Prohibition Notice means work cannot continue at the site until the issue has been remedied.
The same business was issued a Prohibition Notice in 2021 because electrics at the site had “not been constructed or maintained in a safe condition because the mains distribution board is missing a cover and blanking plates”.
