Pub would be used for storage, car park for washing vehicles

Proposals to use the car park of a defunct pub have been submitted to Leeds City Council.

The pub, in Yeadon, nine miles to the north of Leeds city centre, is said to have struggled for several years before ceasing trading due to falling customer levels.

Permission to six build houses on the site was previously granted, but the scheme failed to materialise due to a lack of viability, according to planning documents.

Now, an application to operate a hand car wash from the pub’s car park has been made to the local authority. No changes would be made to the pub or its car park, save for the installation of  a pair of jet wash machines, and Perspex splash guards to prevent passing pedestrians from being sprayed during car-washing activities.

The pub itself would provide office, storage and staff welfare facilities for the business, should the plans meet with approval.
