The upgraded shop will span over 4,000sq ft and create 12 new jobs

Northern Irish firm Henderson Retail has announced it is to comprehensively redevelop a forecourt in Lurgan, County Armagh, and has earmarked £2.4m for the upgrade.

The company, which operates 111 Spar and EuroSpar outlets in NI, acquired the Silverwood forecourt two years ago back when the shop wore a Nisa fascia.

The kiosk was converted to Spar in 2024, but this project will see it move over to Eurospar, while the building will be expanded to cover 4,080sq ft, creating a small supermarket with a butchery counter and a comprehensive food-to-go offering.

The rebuild is expected to be completed by the end of the year, and the site’s enlargement will see 12 new jobs created, bringing the total number of employees at the forecourt to 40.

George Rankin, Henderson’s retail director, says the project will create “a wider product range, value and additional services on our neighbours’ doorsteps”, and also bring “opportunity to the area with the creation of new jobs”.
