BOSS recovers £3m
BOSS, the British Oil Security Syndicate, has now recovered more than £3m on behalf of fuel retailers who are members of its Payment Watch scheme. This helps retailers reduce losses from people claiming to have no means of payment.
Attacker jailed
A man whose attack on a petrol station attendant was viewed on Facebook more than 71,000 times, has been jailed. Scott Dearing, 30, of no fixed abode, drove into Michelle Carr, a cashier at Intake Development’s Park Road Garage, Barnsley, after stealing £120-worth of fuel from the garage in Park Road, Barnsley, in December. He was jailed for 17 months at Sheffield Crown Court.
Eire investment
Topaz and McDonald’s are working on two new motorway service areas (MSAs) in Carlow and Fermoy in the Irish Republic. The investment in construction of the two service stations will be 14m, with an additional 2m investment by McDonald’s.
Toxic charge
London mayor Sadiq Khan has confirmed that a £10 toxic ’T-Charge’, for the most polluting vehicles, will start in central London on October 23. The new emissions levy will apply to motorists who own vehicles that do not meet Euro 4 standards typically those diesel and petrol vehicles registered before 2006.
New website for P&H
Palmer and Harvey has launched a new transactional website, which has been created and designed in conjunction with around 50 retailers, who first trialled the system. The new website aims to improve efficiency and provide users with a more tailored experience, according to P&H managing director Martyn Ward.
