A filling station in Lathom, West Lancashire, has reopened following the completion of a five-month knockdown rebuild.
The £3m project has seen the forecourt shop kitted out with a Spar fascia, together with a butcher and a deli counter, a dedicated bakery section, loose fruit and veg displays, coffee stations and an Iceland-branded frozen food section.
Outside, the James Hall & Co. site now boasts EV charging and AdBlue dispensers, a cashpoint, air, screenwash and vacuum machines, 25 parking spaces and a cashpoint.

The store now employs 29 members of staff, comprising the original team plus new members.
The Lathom forecourt also has close ties to the local community and is partnering with Rainbow Hub, which provides therapeutic services for children and young people with physical disabilities.
West Lancashire’s Mayor, Cllr Anne Fennel, opened the revamped forecourt, commenting:
“It was a pleasure to be asked to cut the ribbon to reopen Spar Lathom. I have come full circle with it as I was on the planning committee when the redevelopment plan was approved.” Cllr Fennel wished the store and its team “every success”.
Fiona Drummond, James Hall and Co.’s company stores director say her firm “recognised that with our store closed for five months we had to deliver the wow factor for our customers upon reopening, and I am thrilled that we have provided that with the transformation”.
