While previously focussed on hotels, the firm is now looking to forecourts as it eyes expansion

Parcel lockers are an established part of forecourt furniture, but luggage lockers could offer a new revenue stream for fuel retailers, particularly those with sites located in busy urban areas.

Stasher, which previously focussed on matching travellers looking to park their luggage, with nearby hotels with spare luggage space, has just secured £3m of funding to help it expand its locker operations. And the firm sees forecourts as part of the next stage of its growth.

The company has formed a strategic partnership with locker maker Hive Box, with the latter contributing £1m to Stasher’s £3m investment pot, and the two firms looking to roll out self-service luggage lockers in the UK.

Stasher says forecourts, supermarkets and shopping centres in busy locations could be right for its lockers, which are installed and maintained by the firm.

The company already has some luggage lockers in place, with its busiest location generating revenue of £2,500 a week.

Jacob Wedderburn-Day, Stasher’s chief executive and co-founder, says the fresh funding “gives us the firepower to expand our marketplace”.
