East Suffolk Council has for a second time granted MFG permission to comprehensively redevelop a BP forecourt, having previously agreed the firm could update the site.
Earlier in the year the council said MFG could improve Martlesham Heath Service Station, a large, five-pump-island forecourt just off the A12 to the east of Ipswich.
The firm was granted permission to add a 753sq ft shop extension complete with Pret A Manger, plus four EV charging spots and an equal number of jet-wash bays, all covered by canopies. Permission was also granted for the company to rationalise the “informal” parking arrangements at the site, adding bays in front of the extended shop.
Before any works took place, though, MFG had a change of heart and decided it would like to keep the automatic car wash, describing it as “a popular facility”.
This necessitated the submission of an updated planning application, which left most plans unchanged, save for tweaks that will see a replacement roll-over installed next to the new jet-wash and charging bays.
These revisions also met with approval from the local authority.
