Two existing EV chargers and a jet wash will be replaced

MFG, which operates over 1,200 forecourts across the UK, has secured planning permission to add eight new EV charging bays to a Dorset filling station.

The hub comprises four Alpitronic HYC 300 charger units serving the eight bays. The group has also been given the go-ahead to install a new jet wash, and air/water and vacuum facilities at the Portland Petrol Station in Osprey Quay, Portland.

The Shell liveried site on Coode Way faces Portland Beach and opened in summer 2021. It has four pump islands, a Budgens convenience store, Greggs and Costa concessions, InPost lockers, and parking for 22 vehicles, plus two extant EV chargers and a jet wash that will be replaced as part of the new development.

MFG’s successful planning application argued that the new chargers will “assist in reducing the reliance on oil-based fossil fuels for road transport in accordance with policy and national aspirations”, and will also “assist in increasing the uptake of electric vehicles”.

In approving the application, Dorset Council stipulated that work must commence within three years.
