The site’s shop will grow significantly in size, gaining a Pret as it does so

Proposals from MFG to significantly expand the shop at a Morrisons forecourt in Norfolk have been given the go-ahead by the local authority.

Back in January MFG applied to Norwich City Council, seeking permission to remove the jet wash bays and bin store at its Albion Way site in order to extend the size of its kiosk by almost three times, from around 620sq ft internally, to 1,590sq ft.

The council has now rubber stamped the plans, and MFG will use the space gained from the extension to install a Pret A Manger concession.

The firm observed in its original planning application: “Over the years petrol filling stations have evolved from what were often sole independent forecourt operators that only provided fuel, to facilities that now seek to serve the wider needs of today’s road users”, with facilities such as food to go now being “expected” by customers.
