The Murco-branded site sits on a main road a mile away from the Norfolk coast

A filling station on the A148 near Cromer, Norfolk, has found a new owner, after its previous custodian decided to sell up and retire.

Roman Camp Service Station’s previous owner had built the business up over the past decade, while the new owners, European Car Service Ltd, are experienced forecourt operators in the South East of England.

The filling station sold for an undisclosed sum in a deal brokered by Christie & Co, whose associate director, Lewis Last, says that previous owner Martin had “been instrumental” to the site’s success, having developed it into “a well-established and well-loved roadside destination”.

A spokesperson for European Car Service Ltd thanks Martin, commenting: “We appreciate the trust he has placed in us as the new owners of the site. We wish him the very best in his retirement.”

The firm added that it is “very much looking forward to meeting the team and the local customers who have supported the forecourt over the years”, and plans to “focus on continued investment and improvements that benefit both the business and customer experience.”

Previous owner Martin comments: “I would like to express my deepest thanks to our loyal customers and hardworking staff. Their continued support, dedication, and trust have played a vital role in shaping Roman Camp Service Station into the respected and valued business it is today. It has been a privilege to serve the community and work alongside such a committed team.

Martin praised the team at Christie & Co “for their professional and supportive approach throughout the sales process”, and wished “every success” to the site’s new owners.
