Dorset-based Peregrine Retail has opened its second forecourt a main road with an innovative canopy designed to look like the wing of an airplane. The former greenfield site on the A38 Bristol Road in Bridgwater, Somerset has a 2,300sq ft Budgens store and 400sq ft adjoining Subway.
The forecourt, which is part of Bridgwater’s Express Park development, which includes a Premier Travel Inn, pub, restaurant, health club and the headquarters for Avon & Somerset Police, has seven pump islands, including one for HGV vehicles. It was the last site designed by ACT Design’s Alec Cornish-Trestrail before his retirement. John Mason, managing director of Peregrine Retail, said: "We wanted something very striking because there’s some nice buildings in the park. The canopy looks like a huge airplane wing it goes up in the air and just carries on to 35ft high. You can see it from a mile away."
John expects fuel volume to be around 5mlpa. The Budgens store is expected to turnover £30,000 a week and the Subway £10,000 a week.
