Phillips 66, owner of the Jet brand, has reached a significant milestone as it integrates hardware bought from the defunct Lindsey refinery into its nearby Humber refinery.
Back in February the US oil firm announced that while it would not take over the Lindsey refinery, parts of which were thought to be outdated, it would purchase “key assets” from the site, which ended operations when Prax subsidiary State Oil Limited ceased trading.
Under the deal, Phillips 66 will take “storage and other assets” from Lindsey and integrate them into its nearby Humber refinery in North Lincolnshire, with the firm announcing that oil and other products are now moving from the Lindsey Rail Loading to the Warwickshire Oil Storage Terminal.
Petrol and diesel, meanwhile, is now being sold “over the racks” (i.e. fuel is being loaded onto tankers) at the Killingholme Road Loading terminal.
Phillips 66 says the range of products, volumes and customers supported by Killingholme are expected to “build progressively over the coming weeks and moths”, adding that integrating Lindsey’s assets into Humber is set to “create greater capacity, flexibility and inland optionality across the UK network”.
