Car wash will be removed; jet wash will be to the side of the shop facing the road

Developers have been given the go-ahead to implement a host of upgrades to a filling station in Fairlie, North Ayrshire.

The Esso forecourt will undergo a series of improvements, including the removal of an old rollover car wash and the installation of a jet wash, together with extensions for the on-site shop, and additional parking bays.

The shop extensions will be added to either side of the building. One side will host a stockroom, office and staff bathroom, while the other will see an on-site bakery installed, together with a kitchen for preparing hot food-to-go.

Approving the plans with no conditions, North Ayrshire Council said the improvements “are considered to be of a scale appropriate to the site”, while the extensions will be “finished to match the existing building”.
