Police are asking anyone with information to come forward, and are particularly keen to trace a customer who entered the forecourt as the robber left

Officers from Police Scotland are seeking a man who held up a filling station in Dumbarton at knifepoint.

The offence took place at 4:30am on Tuesday, November 11 at the Esso/Asda filling station on the Lomondgate roundabout in Dumbarton. A man wearing a face covering and dark clothing threatened a member of staff with a knife and made off with “a three-figure sum of cash”, police say.

While no injuries were sustained during the robbery, detective sergeant Neil Allison described it as “a frightening ordeal”, and said officers are “carrying out extensive enquiries to trace the suspect”.

Allison added that police would increase their presence in the area while the investigation continues and asked members of the public to come forward with information.

“I’d appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened, or saw anything suspicious, to contact us”, he said.

“Similarly, if you have dash-cam footage of the Lomondgate Drive and surrounding areas, please review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.

“I’m particularly keen to speak to a customer who entered the premises as the man was leaving. Please come forward as you may have vital information.”

Anyone with information should telephone 101 quoting reference 0342 of 11 November, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
