Oil major Shell is planning to remove two of six pump islands at a company-owned forecourt in Lichfield, Staffordshire, replacing the fuel nozzles with half a dozen EV charging bays.
The firm also intends to cut back a section of the site’s canopy roof that currently covers the to-be-removed pumps.
If approved, the redevelopment will see see the site’s shop rebuilt, with the current 7,85sq ft store demolished and a new 2,400sq ft convenience offering rebuilt in its place.
Shell also intends to replace the forecourt’s underground fuel tanks, while planning documents indicate the six proposed EV bays will be served by a trio of Alpitronic Hyperchargers.
The company has engaged JMS Planning as consultants on the project, together with French design and engineering firm Artelia, which has worked with the oil firm since 2008.
