Spar UK, the British arm of the Dutch retailer and wholesaler, has appointed a new managing director following the departure of Michael Fletcher, who only took up the post in November 2024.
Spar UK says Fletcher “has decided to leave his role” and will step away from day-to-day duties at the end of August. Fletcher’s replacement, Jerome Saint-Marc, will begin as MD on August 17.
Spar UK says it “would like to thank Michael for his leadership and contribution during his time with the business”, and the firm wishes him “every success for the future”.
Saint-Marc, who has three decades’ experience in the supply chain and retail sectors, previously worked for Tesco, Morrisons and Wilko. He joins Spar UK from Co-op, where he was most recently managing director for B2B and growth. Spar UK says Saint-Marc’s “extensive expertise will be invaluable” to the firm.
Martin Agnew, meanwhile, succeeds Nick Bunker as chair of the Spar Food Distributors Board.
