Fredericks Dairies is expanding its Del Monte ices range with the addition of a strawberry & banana variant to its successful Smoothies range.
Del Monte Smoothies took freezers by storm in their first year and now account for a 19% share of the £28.3m adult refreshment market, says Fredericks. This year the range is available in impulse as well as multipacks. The new flavour joins the existing mango and raspberry variants.
Fredericks says Del Monte Smoothies stand alone in comparison to other products on the market. The company believes the strawberry & banana flavour will attract new consumers to the freezer and drive profit opportunities for retailers.
To mark the launch, Fredericks Dairies will give eight retailers two cases of each of the Smoothies.
The ice cream equivalent of the popular confectionery brand, it combines crunchy Twix biscuit with ice cream, topped with soft caramel and coated in milk chocolate. Masterfoods says it is the only ice cream on the market with biscuit.
Twix ice cream bar will join Mars and Snickers ice cream bars under the new ‘Xtra banner.
The ‘Xtra pack design will communicate the quality ingredients – including real dairy ice cream – that go into each product.
The Masterfoods ice cream range will benefit from a £3.6m marketing spend, including multi-media advertising and direct mailing across the grocery and impulse sectors.
To celebrate the launch, Masterfoods will give one lucky reader £250-worth of Twix ‘Xtra ice cream bars.
