Partnership blends Tesco loyalty scheme with EV charging

Supermarket giant Tesco has announced customers who charge their electric cars at the firm’s car parks will receive one Clubcard loyalty point for every pound they spend on electricity.

The incentive applies to people using Vauxhall-liveried Pod chargers that feature prominently in Tesco car parks, while customers who sign up to Pod’s home-charging subscription, Pod Drive, receive a joining bonus of 2,500 Clubcard points, equivalent to £25.

The Pod Drive service comprises a home wallbox being fitted for a £100 setup fee, with homeowners paying £40 a month for the chargepoint, which would otherwise cost around £1,250 to supply and fit.

Tesco’s group membership and loyalty director, Shama Wilson, said: “with an increasing number of drivers switching to electric vehicles we are delighted that shoppers will now be able to collect Clubcard points when they charge their cars at our stores, thanks to our exciting partnership with Pod.”
