The MSA operator say it is responding to growing demand from drivers

Motorway services operator Welcome Break has committed to offering burgers until at least midnight, and counter-service coffee from 5am across all its locations.

The firm guarantees that from July 1, 2026 a Burger King, KFC or Chopstix outlet will be open at every one of its 32 sites until at least midnight, while a Starbucks or The Good Breakfast outlet will be serving coffee from 5am.

The guarantee comes under the banner of Welcome Break’s ‘Day In, Night Out’ service and is designed to cater to “growing demand from early commuters, shift workers and late-night motorists”.

Government rules mandate motorway services open 24 hours a day and offer cooked food at all times, though there is no stipulation of what form that food must take.

Additionally, WH Smith sites at Welcome Breaks already operate on a 24-hour basis, with all such outlets offering coffee via machines.

Adrian Grimes, Welcome Break’s chief operating officer comments: “We know our customers want reliable motorway service areas”, adding the new arrangements mean “we can be there for road users at any time of the day.”
