Developers looking to construct a new employment hub on the Isle of Sheppey have reintroduced a filling station to their plans, having initially proposed a forecourt, before later deciding against it.
The project will see a new hub with commercial units – some large, some smaller ones deigned for locally run family businesses – built on arable land on the outskirts of Minster.
The original outline planning application, submitted in late 2023, foresaw a forecourt forming part of the project, but following consultation with local authorities, in September 2024 the developers felt the PFS was “tilting the balance of the planning application less favourably”, and it was removed from the proposals.
Now, an updated outline application has been submitted to Swale Borough Council, setting out that it is “the applicants’ strong desire” for a forecourt to feature in the hub “to serve the local population, businesses and holidaymakers”.
