Tryton Foods is launching Aunt Bessie's Best - premium Yorkshire puddings, which are 20% bigger than your standard pud. They are cooked for longer before freezing to make them lighter and crispier.

Sales at Aunt Bessie's have more than doubled in the past six years. And Tryton commercial director, John Hendy, expects the new product to add £2m to the market within a year due to its premium positioning.

He said: "This premium Yorkshire pudding will help to put value back into a sector which, traditionally, has suffered from price deflation."

A range makeover means the puds also have improved packaging aimed at giving the brand more in-freezer impact, while Aunt Bessie herself has been re-illustrated to give the branding a more premium feel.

A pack of eight has a rrp of £1.49.
