The forecourt property market has been ‘hot’ for some time, but the recent sale of a Stoke-on-Trent filling station was speedy even by industry standards, with the deal completing just 10 days after the buyer’s offer was accepted.
Jacks Service Station, on the B5051 to the north east of Stoke, had been offered for sale after its owners decided to focus on other areas of their business, with previous tenants Ascona vacating the site in September.
Premier Petrol Stations, which operates a number of forecourts in the area, subsequently offered on the vacant-possession property and, just 10 days later, the deal was completed.
The new owners intend to fully refit the forecourt shop before reopening the site. Muhammad Yasir from Premier Petrol Stations commented: “We were quick to act, with only ten days from offer to completion.” Yasir thanked Dave Morris from Christie & Co, which brokered the deal, saying that Morris had been “available around the clock to ensure the acquisition went through in such a short space of time.”
The vendor, Mr Rahman, described the deal as “complicated”, and also praised Morris for his “advice and hard work”.
Morris, a regional director at Christie & Co, said the site was sold “in very unusual circumstances” adding: “We were able to work with the seller and buyer to achieve a sale promptly so that Mr Rahman can focus on his other business interests.”
