Surrey based Niza Group has completed on the purchase of John Stayte Services, with the deal bringing with it three filling stations, six retail outlets and a Calor Gas supply business.
The three forecourts are all in Gloucestershire and comprise Fromebridge Service Station on the A38, five miles south of Gloucester; Wild Goose Garage in Dursley; and Bridge Service Station in Stonehouse.
The filling stations are all supplied by Texaco/Valero, and their acquisition takes Niza Group’s forecourt portfolio up to 15 sites, as well as 14 independent stores.
John Stayte Services, headquartered in Gloucester, was founded by its namesake in 1966 and has grown steadily since, having been headed up by son Mike Slayte for the last 38 years.
As well forecourts and the Calor Gas business the deal involved John Slayte Services’ head office, main depot and six shops supplying goods including coal, logs, barbecues, patio heaters, fishing bait and pet food.
The deal was brokered by Christie & Co, with the firm having previously sold one of John Slayte Services’ outlets in 2020.
A spokesperson for the Niza Group said the firm is “delighted with this latest acquisition with the petrol stations located in a strategically important area for us”.
They added: “The gas business is a new venture for us but with the retail outlets included, it is an exciting proposition that we look forward to growing. We would like to thank the Stayte family and particularly Mike for his help throughout the process.”
Mike Stayte commented: “I have so much gratitude to people who have helped the family build a successful firm over the years following the good foundations made by my parents.
“There have been so many people who have contributed, and we feel honoured to have so many of them as friends as well as work colleagues. I am sure John Stayte Services will continue to thrive because of the people who work there.”
