The Grove Filling Station in Dorchester forms part of the six-site deal

Top 50 Indie firm JP&S Services has added six filling stations to its portfolio after completing a significant acquisition in the South West, bringing the firm’s tally of sites to 21.

The half-dozen forecourts were bought from Spar’s South West wholesaler Appleby Westward and are spread across Cornwall, Dorset and Devon, with Forecourt Trader reporting the contracts for the sites had been exchanged in early July.

JP&S has now completed on the purchase and owns Newtown Garage, Penzance, Cornwall; the Grove filling station in Dorchester, and Maiden Newton Filling Station, both in Dorset; and Ipplepen Garage, Newton Abbot; Watcombe Service Station, Torquay; and East Charleton Garage, Kingsbridge, all in Devon.

Priyanth Yoganathan, son of JP&S founder Visvanathan, previously told Forecourt Trader the sites are in need of investment and the firm plans to develop them, saying the company is “not in the business of flipping sites and selling them on”.

The West Country JP&S deal was brokered by WT Estates, whose owner, William Trott, describes it as a “significant transaction for the forecourt industry”, and an acquisition that gives JP&S “a fantastic base to continue their progression into the West Country”.
