New research reveals that nearly a third of UK fleets have 25% or fewer EVs in operation, and 11% have not introduced any EVs at all.

The data – from vehicle leasing firm Alphabet (GB) and published in Fleet News – is based on the opinions of just over 200 fleet managers and was released ahead of Net Zero Week (July 5-11).

The research found that delivery services and retailers are leading the way when it comes to having EVs (with 25-50% and 50-75% respectively) but many other sectors are way behind.

Caroline Sandall Mansergh, consultancy and channel development manager at Alphabet (GB), says: “While some sectors are leading the way, there is still a huge amount of work needed to support other companies, and their drivers, to reduce their vehicle emissions.

“The need for clear, actionable strategies to transition to greener fleets must take priority if we are to reduce UK vehicle carbon emissions in a timely and effective manner.”
