Chargepoint operator Believ has signed a further deal with a local authority, committing to install and operate 26 devices in north Devon.
The agreement with Torridge District Council follows Believ securing the rights to install and operate 10 new chargers in Luton for residents in council homes without driveways.
The Devon deal will see a mixture of fast (8-49kW) and rapid (50-149kW) chargers installed in council-owned car parks in Torridge, a district that is home to 68,000 people and covers towns including Bideford, Holsworthy and Bradworthy.
The project is set to begin late this year and will be funded by Believ, which was selected by the council after a “competitive public procurement process” found the firm “the most advantageous delivery partner” for the scheme.
Guy Bartlett, Believ’s chief executive comments: “By fully funding and delivering this network, we can help ensure that residents, businesses and visitors have the confidence to make the switch to electric vehicles.”
Councillor Bob Hicks from Torridge District Council called the project “a real step change to make the transition from traditional cars to EVs an easier one”.
