The Car Wash Association (CWA) is rolling out its WashMark kitemark designed to act as a barometer for quality car washing facilities.

Car wash operators that are members of the CWA can now apply for WashMark accreditation by completing a self-assessment questionnaire available to download on www.carwashassociation.co.uk.

Once approved, retailers will be able to purchase a variety of marketing and point-of-sale material. Options include A2 foamex posters for external use, A4 foamex for use in-store, a four-metre banner, and four-page leaflets, which retailers can hand out to customers to explain exactly what the WashMark means.

Independent retailer David Charman, chairman of the CWA, said: "This is an important time for the Car Wash Association. We want the WashMark to become synonymous with quality washes throughout the UK. It will show that the highest standards of environmental compliance are carried out."
