Mace has teamed up with Britvic, Walkers and Cadbury so retailers can offer their shoppers linked deals in a promotional first for Palmer and Harvey.

Each ‘On-the-Go Deal’ promotion will consist of a chocolate countline, packet of crisps and a bottle of soft drink (500/600ml). The promotions will change every three weeks and a suggested promotional rrp is ‘3 for £2’, but retailers will be able to set their own promotional price.

Participating Mace retailers will receive a free-standing display unit to merchandise the promotions and ensure they get the most out of the snacking market. The On-the-Go Deal has been devised to increase basket spend and improve shopper perception of participating Mace stores ‘value-for-money’ offer.

The On-the-Go Deal calendar launches this week and the first promotion comprises a 49g Dairy Milk or Fruit and Nut bar, a 32.5g bag of salt & vinegar or prawn cocktail Walkers crisps, and a 5/600ml bottle of Pepsi or Diet Pepsi.

The promotional calendar is part of Palmer and Harvey’s Promoting Retail Excellence Programme (PREP) programme, which helps retailers adopt retail practices that drive sales and boost profits. PREP retailers can be rewarded to up to £2,500 a year, and ‘On-the-Go Deal’ participants will earn PREP points which count towards their annual target.

Simon Harris, symbol business development manager at Palmer and Harvey, said: “With more than a third of shoppers looking for a snack deal generally and a third of Mace customers looking for chocolate, crisps and soft drinks in their food-to-go mission we knew we had to help our retailers be competitive and boost footfall.

“Relentless supermarket promotions have hit chocolate countlines hard eroding value in the category and have led to independent retailers finding it hard to compete in their traditional impulse heartland. This promotional calendar allows us to offer shoppers real value for money in their shopping treats.”
