The price of petrol is the number one concern for Britons today. In its first-ever Life Index, Swiftcover found that 61% of consumers said their biggest worry was the price of petrol and diesel. And 23% of respondents said they were ‘extremely concerned’ by it.

The next most worrying things were the government’s actions (cited by 58% of those surveyed), local council’s actions (44%) and financial pressures (42%).

The Life Index also found that those aged 45 and over were the unhappiest, with 27% of them claiming to be more miserable than a year ago and 45% of them citing financial pressures as the main reason.
