Rapidly expanding independent forecourt operator Roadside Real Estate has successfully completed its recommissioning of a former Sainsbury’s filling station in Coventry.
Roadside purchased the forecourt from the supermarket chain for £1.25m in July 2025, and was only granted planning permission to redevelop it by Coventry City Council in March this year.
Since then the company has spent £1.7m on the site, knocking it down and rebuilding it with a new, expanded Londis shop, modern pumps, a fresh canopy, two jet-wash bays and parcel lockers.
The firm has also secured a grid connection and planning permission for eight EV charging bays, which are due to be installed “in the coming months”.
As well as being a win for Roadside the site also bolsters Valero’s ambitious expansion plans, with the oil firm supplying the site and adorning its canopy.

Roadside, which now operates 21 forecourts, described the Coventry site as “a well-invested, modern roadside destination serving the needs of the local community”.
