Roadside Real Estate’s “big aspirations” look to be coming along nicely, after the firm was granted permission to knock down and rebuild a former Sainsbury’s filling station in Coventry.
The firm, which recntly bought six sites from Gardner Retail, paid £1.25m for the former supermarket forecourt in July 2025, with the site being offered for sale after Sainsbury’s closed its adjacent Austin Drive store in 2023.
Roadside applied to Coventry City Council for planning permission to bring the filling station back to life earlier in the year, and the authority has now green lit the project.
All structures at the site will be demolished, with four pump islands and an 1,830sq ft shop being installed, alongside a brace of jet-wash bays.
