Top 50 Indie EG On The Move is continuing its growth strategy with the proposed demolition and rebuilding of a filling station in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.
The firm has applied to Rochdale Borough Council for permission to knock down its Sudden Service Station site and construct a new forecourt featuring four pump islands, together with six EV bays and an improved shop.
EGOTM says the site as it stands “is dated and of little architectural merit”, and fails to offer “a modern roadside facility”.
If approved, the firm will build a new 4,200sq ft shop, complete with a food-to-go concession, while it will also increase the number of customer parking bays from its current 18, to 54. A separate on-site Starbucks will be left as is, however.
Imagery from Google shows that while the forecourt used to feature Esso branding, EGOTM kitted it out in its own grey-and-green imagery sometime between August 2024 and 2025.
The company is on something of a development mission at present, with at least 13 new sites in planning or construction, while in July this year it acquired 85 former Prax forecourts, taking its portfolio to around 285 UK filling stations.
