Renfrewshire Council has given chargepoint operator Allego the green light to build a new EV charging hub at a site in Wallneuk Road, Paisley, which used to be home to the Traveller’s Rest pub.
The hub will have six individual charging units, designed to charge 12 cars with each individual charging unit covered by an overhead canopy. There will be one electrical substation as well as associated resurfacing and landscaping works on the brownfield land.
Each Alpitronic HYC300 charging unit, which can deliver up to 300kW of power, will have two bollards placed in front of them to ensure that the development is safe and to minimise the likelihood of damage being done to the units.
The application had said that the proposal would result in a high-quality redevelopment of this long-term vacant and derelict site which will not only provide essential local infrastructure, but would also improve the character, appearance and amenity of the street scene and surrounding neighbourhood.
The development will make use of existing and established vehicle entrance and exit points on and off the public highway and Allego says it will not result in any unacceptable increase in local traffic levels.
