’Camelot Garage has great potential that can be unlocked with the right investment’, says property agent Christie & Co

Ascona continues its march across the UK with the acquisition of Camelot Garage, a busy petrol station on the A39 Atlantic Highway – a popular tourist road running along the North Devon and Cornwall coast.

The 6.25 mlpa BP/Londis forecourt is on the edge of Camelford, known as the ‘gateway to Cornwall’, and in the north of the county.

It has parking for around 12 cars, with offices and residential apartments above the store, and there is a single jet wash bay.

The former owners, who have run the site for over 20 years, have decided to retire.

This latest acquisition brings Ascona to 70 sites and closer to its ambition of being one of the top five independent forecourt operators. The Premboke Dock-based operator is ranked at seventh place in Forecourt Trader’s Top 50 Indies latest report.

However, Ascona secured £200m fundling last year, which its chief executive Darren Briggs said at the time could see the network growing to 120 forecourts by the middle of next year.

Matthew McFarlane, senior business agent at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, says that the purchase has potential. “Camelot Garage is a fantastic site on the main A39 route through North Cornwall. It has been well-established by the previous owners and offers a super opportunity for Ascona to continue its success.

“Ascona are keen to expand their portfolio across the South West, having recently secured additional funding at the end of 2025.”

Christie & Co’s regional director Dave Morris adds: “This is a great addition to Ascona’s portfolio as they strive to acquire forecourts with the best future potential. Camelot Garage has great potential that can be unlocked with the right investment.”
