A hand car wash operating on a forecourt site was ordered to stop jet washing because the local council said it was too noisy.
Boscombe BP Hand Car Wash, which operates in the Boscombe Service Station site in Palmerston Road, Bournemouth and is owned by Khalat Khalil, was told by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council that the business had breached noise limitation conditions which had been set within its planning permission.
Khalil was required to ensure that all jet washing took place inside an enclosed compound, complete with acoustic roller shutters which had to be kept closed when the area was in use.
The shutter broke in July, and Khalil says he immediately told the Council about it but they then turned up at the site saying it had to be shut down for 28 days.
Khalil told Forecourt Trader: “I spent £100k on the jet washing area in 2022. One of the shutters has broken since then and I have been trying hard to get it repaired.”
He now expects the issue to be resolved any day now.
