Motorway service area (MSA) provider Roadchef has won Corporate National Partnership Champion at the Charity Times Awards 2022 for its work with Cancer Research UK.

Roadchef has supported the charity for the past four years by raising over £3.7m, with a commitment to increase this to £5m by the end of 2023.

Mike Jackson, head of Charity, Roadchef said: “Despite the many hurdles of the pandemic, Roadchef has remained incredibly committed to our partnership with Cancer Research UK, adapting our fundraising techniques and identifying innovative new ways to support the charity over the past couple of years.

“This includes our more recent Roadchef Walkathon that has already raised over £8.5k seeing employees and partners walk up to 21 miles across four different sites.”

He continued: “It is fantastic to be recognised for our continued hard work and dedication to our partnership with Cancer Research UK. Everyone in the business is incredibly passionate about the work we do – it was a company-wide decision to partner with the charity, and we are incredibly proud of our fundraising. So many people within our team have been affected by cancer so it really does strike a chord with everyone and makes us even more committed to reaching our fundraising goals.”

The partnership, which began in 2018, aims to empower Roadchef employees to take positive action for their health by raising awareness of how they can reduce their risk of cancer and the importance of early detection. The company has committed to promoting this core message across all communication channels, reaching more than 3,000 employees and 52 million customers a year.
