Bodmin Moor Services in Cornwall, owned by Top 50 Indie the Chartman Group, was the winner of the UK’s Best Forecourt Loo 2014.
The award was presented at this week’s National Convenience Show at the NEC by James Hayfield, sales director of the campaign’s sponsor, RS Sales & Distribution. Chartman Group director Clive Sheppard collected the award on behalf of the team at Bodmin Moor Services. The winner also received an Ipad Mini and washroom maintenance kit.
The campaign was run on the Forecourt Trader’s Best Forecourt Loo Facebook page, with customers encouraged to ‘like’ their favourite loo. The Bodmin Moor Services site received an amazing 87 ‘likes’, and attracted many complimentary comments such as “after over 250 miles I can always rely on Bodmin Moor Services for clean toilets” and "friendly helpful staff and spotless facilities make a stop at Bodmin Moor Services a pleasure”.
Clive Sheppard was delighted to collect the award on behalf of the Bodmin Moor Services team: "This competition is a great way of raising awareness of the need for good toilet facilities on forecourts," he said. "As a company we believe this will encourage higher footfall through our business. It seems that in the past the oil companies have downplayed the importance of customer toilets, and builders and advisors have sometimes been surprised at our desire to improve the specification of the facilities.
"The social media format has encouraged us to embrace this area more closely, and has been great for teambuilding.
"It’s been fun watching the number of ’likes’ click up, and also seeing the other entrants. I would certainly encourage other forecourts to enter next year."
